Welcome to my kitchen… My name is Homa and I’m a Persian mama with a great appreciation for good food made with fresh ingredients and spiced with love. I was born in Iran to a great mom who was a wonderful baker and cook. I enjoyed watching her in the kitchen either preparing tasty nutritious everyday meals or spending days on end preparing amazing meals and yummy pastries for the large dinner parties that she loved to throw.
When I left for the U.S. after high school I didn’t have much hands-on culinary experience and, once the novelty of the school cafeteria meals wore off, I started missing my mom’s cooking. I was determined to learn how to cook, and I started collecting recipes on my trips back to my hometown of Tabriz. The Persian recipes that I will share with you have been in my family for generations. Over the years, my love of cooking and baking has expanded beyond Persian cooking and I have learned new culinary techniques and experimented with different cuisines. I love food from all over the world and enjoy preparing it for my family and friends.
I am married to a wonderful man and have the privilege of being the mom to three amazing children, two daughters and one son, who are the true joys of my life and the biggest fans of my cooking and baking.
We live in Utah in the foothills of the majestic Wasatch Mountains. We feel very lucky to be living in such a beautiful area and spend a lot of time hiking and biking the different trails. When I am not cooking or taking pictures I hike up this trail to get the much needed workout and to fill my lungs with fresh mountain air!
I originally decided to organize all of my recipes for my children when they started going away to college. What I had in mind was teaching them how to successfully prepare on their own the foods that they had loved all their lives. I decided to take guesswork out of cooking and baking by giving easy-to-follow directions in detailed steps. My children never cooked while they lived at home and now they happily report that they are able to follow my recipes and cook delicious meals that taste “just like home.” My desire to start a blog came about when I decided to share my recipes not only with my children and family but with everyone who is interested in learning a new cuisine.
I love creating delicious food and I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures. This blog is my way of putting together my two favorite hobbies into a collection that everyone can use and hopefully enjoy.
The recipes are my original family recipes, unless mentioned otherwise.
I cook and style all the food that I photograph. I take my own pictures using Canon EOS Rebel T5i
